Florence M. Manderscheid

Florence Mary Manderscheid, 104, of Maquoketa passed away January 27, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque.
To honor Florence’s life a funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa on Saturday, January 30 at 11:30 am. Visitation beginning at 9:30 am until the time of her service. A Catholic Daughters of America Rosary will be recited at 9:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be held at Sacred Heart cemetery in Maquoketa. Lahey Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their services.
Florence was born on November 21, 1911 in Springbrook, Iowa. She married Francis Manderscheid on January 23, 1934. She farmed alongside her husband, as well as worked at Crestridge Nursing Home, and Jackson County Public Hospital in the dietary department.
Florence was a member of Catholic Daughters of America, Chapter St. Raphael #1156 in Maquoketa. She also enjoyed playing Euchre and was in several Euchre Marathons at the Senior Center. She enjoyed fishing, and most of all she cherished her family.
She is survived by her two sons; Robert (Carol) Manderscheid of Lamotte, and Thomas (Peg) Manderscheid of Ankeny, 7 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and four sisters.

Keiven James Barber

Keiven James Barber, son of Derek and McKenzie Barber was born into the arms of the Lord on January 5, 2016 at St. Luke’s Birth Care Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.


Keiven is survived by his parents, Derek, and McKenzie Barber, paternal grandparents; Steven and Kathy Barber, maternal grandparents; Keith and Becky Brecht, great grandparents; Keith Barber, and Donna Lou Glenn, Aunts and Uncles; Brock (Stacey) Barber, Danielle (Randy Wendt) Barber, Jesse (Danielle) Brecht, and cousins; Griffin & Gentry Barber, Hudson & Isla Brecht.


He was welcomed into heaven by great grandparents; Donna Barber, Robert Glenn, Gene & Lois Brecht, Diane & Jim, & Maxine Hess, great aunt; Barb Glenn, and cousin; Michael Falkner.

Rudolph Husemann

Rudolph “Rudy” Paul Husemann of Wheatland, Iowa passed away on January 3, 2016 at the University Of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City.
To honor Rudy’s life a visitation will be held on Thursday, January 7, from 3-7 pm at Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Rudolph was born on June 2, 1956 to Benjamen and Shirley (Haskel) Husemann.
He attended Dubuque High School. On March 1, 1975, he married Debra Spear at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Dubuque, Iowa.
Rudy worked for Owl Furniture for 32 years and also did concrete work.
His hobbies included Softball and playing pool. He also was a league bowler for a number of years at Timber Lanes. 
He is survived by his wife, Debra Husemann, Wheatland; three children, Melissa Husemann of Maquoketa, Christopher (Joy) Husemann of Onslow, and Jake (Joni) Husemann of Maquoketa; 6 grandchildren; Sisters Sally Casel, Shirley (Paul) Frommelt, Pam (Jerry) Schroeder; Brothers Tom (Georgette) Husemann, Pete (Mary) Husemann, Carl Husemann, Rob Husemann, Pat (Julie) Husemann, and Frank (Carla) Husemann.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, John, and Ben; two sisters, Linda, Eddie; and one grandson Dylan Hickson.

Robert Sams

Robert Paul Sams, 60, of Maquoketa passed away December 8,, 2015 at the University Of Iowa Hospitals. Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa, Iowa will be assisting the family at this time.
Robert was born on November 5, 1955 to Kenneth Lee, and Samara Jane (Farrington) Sams. He grew up in the Anamosa area, as well as Lost Nation, and Wyoming Iowa. He graduated from Dewitt School in 1975.
Robert worked at the Anamosa Stave Mill, Mikes Antiques in Zwingle, and for Cliff Dirks in Wyoming, Iowa for many years.
He is survived by his daughter Bethany Sams (Brian Schepers) of Maquoketa, and son Travis (Kim) Sams of Monticello, 8 grandchildren, brothers; Charles (Carla) Sams of Anamosa, Terry (Colleen) Sams of Anamosa, James (Lousie) Sams of Hale, Doug (Mae) Sams of Monmouth, sisters; Judy (Will) Anders of Oxford Junction, Cindy (Mark) of Lisbon, and Yutana Sams of Lisbon, 8 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Pamela Dahl, a brother Andy Sams, and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
