Gary Dean was born on April 30, 1941 in Baldwin, Iowa to Thelman and Vera Alberta (Edwards) Tracy.  He graduated Maquoketa High School in 1958. After graduating he faithfully and honorably served in the United States Army for three years. He farmed most of his life on his home farm in rural Baldwin. Gary was united in marriage to the love of his life Joyce Hughes on July 24, 1967 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. In 1991 they purchased TnT Dynamite Cone Shop in Maquoketa where for 17 years he enjoyed visiting with anyone who came in and giving away many ice cream cones to children. He was a Seeds Salesman and District Supervisor for Fontanelle Hybrids Seeds for over 20 years. After retiring they spent their winters in Arizona. Gary was someone who very much enjoyed life and living life through others lives, he would stop with a smile and a laugh to visit with anyone he saw while out and about in his Jeep with his sidekick Harley. He enjoyed playing golf, riding his trike, playing Dirty Board, attending the casino and tinkering with his antique John Deere Tractors. Over the years he taught many people how to drive vehicles, motorcycle and tractors. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he often attended any school functions they were involved in.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 50 years Joyce of Maquoketa, two children Brian (Patti) Tracy of Wyoming, Tara (Mitch) Michel of Baldwin, three grandchildren; Cody Tracy, Sidney Michel, Grant Michel, a close niece Jo Dee Tracy of Maquoketa and five siblings; Dylon Tracy of Maquoketa, Ronald (Kay) Tracy of Maquoketa, JoAnn Sikes of Texas, Carol Jean Klinefelter of Clinton, Mary Jo Williams of Maquoketa, several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Harley.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a nephew Mitch Higgins.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be left to Gary’s family in his honor.
