Owen R. Wagener

Owen R. Wagener, 91, of Maquoketa passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Maquoketa Care Center.  His family has granted his wishes of cremation.

Owen Rhea was born on April 11, 1925 in Clinton County to Clarence and Ida (Hamilton) Wagener. He graduated from Elwood High School. On May 1, 1947, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Jane Potter.  Owen served faithfully and honorably in the United States Army. Farming was a big part of Owen’s life. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and especially going to McDonalds every morning with the coffee club.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children; Richard “Charlie” (Linda) Wagener of Oskaloosa, Mary (Leo) Grimm of Maquoketa, three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two sisters.
