Richard G. Armstrong

            Richard Gene Armstrong was born to George and Florence (Qualley) Armstrong April 24, 1938 in Ridgeway, IA.

            He graduated from Ridgeway High School. Richard was custodian at the high school in Ridgeway until it was closed. Richard lived his adult life in Decorah, IA and had fun going to NordictFest every summer. His hobbies were leatherwork, latch hook, and walking. He also enjoyed playing board and card games. Spending time with his brother Ferdie’s family was special to him.

            Those left to cherish Richard’s memories are his sister-in-law Portialee; nephew Todd Armstrong of Plantation, FL; niece Stacy Armstrong of La Crosse, WI; two great-nieces, Elizabeth Greenhouse and Brooklyn Armstrong; and one great-nephew, Logan Armstrong.

            Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ferdie, and several cousins.

            As per Richard’s wishes there will be no funeral service. Lahey Funeral and Cremation Services are assisting the family at this time. A private service will be held for the family at a later date.

            The family wishes to thank all the Crestridge Nursing Facility staff and nurses in Maquoketa, IA for their wonderful care of Richard all these years. Also Hospice of Jackson County for their care for Richard in his last days.
