Cecil N. Thola was born June 12, 1932, in Jackson County, Iowa,
son of Arnold and Matilda (Riestoffer) Thola. He attended
Jackson County rural schools. He married Nellie Trenkamp on
October 26, 1957, at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook, Iowa.
He farmed, was a truck driver and also was the care taker for Pleasant
Creek Park in Bellevue, Iowa, for 20 years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Maquoketa.
Cecil loved the outdoors and to tell stories. He enjoyed playing cards
and spending time with his family and his grandchildren.

Cecil is survived by his wife, Nellie Thola of Maquoketa;
three children, Richard Thola and Michael (Jodi) Thola, both of Maquoketa,
and Janis Huling of DeWitt;
4 grandchildren, Joshua Thola, Jennifer, Jessica and Kristina Huling;
one sister, Betty Doyle of Dubuque;
and one brother, Lloyd (Kathleen) Thola, Sr. of Clinton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.

Cecil N. Thola, 77, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died Thursday, July 30, 2009,
at The Finley Hospital in Dubuque, following a brief illness.
