Rose Marie Neuzil was born in March 1920, in Festina, Iowa, to
Joseph and Gertrude (Rhein) Neuzil. She graduated from Calmar High School
and received a music degree from the University of Iowa.
She married Lawrence A. Ales on May 9, 1942, in Iowa City, Iowa.
He died on May 31, 2005.
She was a homemaker and in earlier years, she taught music, math, and English.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Mother's Club at
the church, and the College Club in Lost Nation. Rose Marie played the
organ for many years and volunteered with the Lost Nation Food Bank.
She was an avid gardener and was especially proud of her seven kids.

Rose Marie Ales is survived by her children,
Shelley (Ken) Fishwild of Bellingham, Washington,
Christine (Chuck) Hurst of Custer, Washington,
Diane (Mark Staub) Vinsel of Vancouver, Washington,
Steve (Jan) Ales of Lexington, Kentucky,
Becky (Steve) Hammann of Muscatine, and
Pat (Paul) Durkop of Lost Nation;
9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren;
one son-in-law, John Edgington of Marianna, Florida; and
sisters-in-law, Lois Neuzil and Mary Lou Neuzil.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one daughter,
Suzanne Edgington in 2001, and two brothers, Paul and George.

Rose Marie Ales, 89, of Lost Nation, Iowa, died Thursday, December 10, 2009,
at Bickford Cottage in Muscatine.

Memorials are preferred for a music scholarship in Rose Marie's name.
