Betty Marie Hanson, 90, of Wyoming, passed away on February 4, 2024, at St. Lukes Hospital after a brief illness.
Her graveside service will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the Mayflower Cemetery in Oxford Junction. Dawson Funeral Services of Oxford Junction is caring for her family.
Betty Marie Blahnik was born May 13, 1933, in Monmouth, IA to Frank and Berniece (Yarolem) Blahnik. She was an honor student and graduated from Oxford Junction High School at age 16 with straight A’s. She married Edwin “Buck” Hanson in Cedar Rapids, and they had three boys Leroy, Edwin, Joe, and a daughter named Sue. She moved back to the farm in Wyoming in 1974 and lived there till her death. She enjoyed writing poems and had her winning poem “Badger” published in the National Library of Congress. She is one of a hundred poets chosen by Famous Poets Society, her winning poems include Born Again, Love the Neighbor, So Little Time, Criticism, Salvation, Stranded, Love One Another, and Meet Your Savior. Betty was a hard-working mother.
Betty is survived by her two sons, Edwin and Joe of Wyoming: daughter Sue of Delhi, and one grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Edwin, and son Leroy.
