Rodney L. Cozart, 70, of Baldwin and formerly of Olin, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024, at home.
A visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 am on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Dawson Funeral Services in Olin. His funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, March 29 at Dawson Funeral Services in Olin. The burial will be at the Olin Cemetery.
Rodney Lee was born on September 2, 1953, in Anamosa, Iowa to Harlan and Carol (Rasmussen) Cozart. In 1973 he graduated from Olin High School. On September 22, 1973,he was united in marriage to the love of his life Kathleen in Marion, Iowa. He worked for over 50 years for the telephone company as a manager and cable installer. He was the Olin Police Officer for several years. Rodney loved his community and volunteered for the Olin Volunteer Fire Department and served as Fire Chief. Every few years he would find a new hobby such as metal detecting, racing RC Cars or making things with his 3D printer. He was an avid collector of guns and reloading items. His greatest joy came in life when he was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 50 years Kathy, three children; Chelley (Billy) Ralston, Chad Cozart all of Baldwin, Shawna Cozart of Olin, seven grandchildren; Raygan, Nick, Marshall, Shawn, Skylah, Ella, Norah, a great-grandson Leon, a sister Kim (Dan) Corrie of Centralia and his faithful companions Jaxson and Jimbo.
He is preceded in death by his parents Harlan and Carol, two sisters: Margo and Ranae and a granddaughter Myla.
His family would like to extend a special thank you to Lindsay Brownell and the entire staff at Above and Beyond Hospice for the exceptional care they provided to Rod over the past year.
