Anna Mae Steffen,87, of Cascade and formerly of Monmouth passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Shade Rest Care Center in Cascade.
Her Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa. A Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 9 at Lahey Funeral & Cremation Service in Maquoketa with a Vigil Service at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery in Sylvia Switch.
Anna Mae was born on December 21, 1929 to Peter and Elizabeth (Weis) Dondlinger. She attended school in Springbrook until 8th grade. On February 5, 1952 she was united in marriage to Leon Steffen at S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook. They farmed near Bernard. For many years she owned and operated the Hideaway Supper Club in Monmouth.
She is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Monmouth Card Club.
Those left to cherish her memories are her four children; Karla (Jim) Mahoney of Bernard, Karen (Larry Joe) Stoffel of Peosta, Daniel (Karen) Steffen of Zwingle, Dean (Ronay) Steffen of Maquoketa, a daughter-in-law Dorothy Steffen of Maquoketa, 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, three sisters; Jean Smith, Adeline Hefel, Julaine (Richard) Frank and two sister-in-laws Eileen Dondlinger and Lillian Dondlinger.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a granddaughter Katie, a great-grandchild Aleah, her son Darrell, a sister Iva, two brothers Norbert and Eldred and brother-in-laws Merlin Kaiser, Kenneth, Donald and Elmer Steffen, Val Smith, Bernard Hefel and Jack Oberbroeckling.
Memorials may be directed towards her family in her honor.
