Bernadean Mae DeWald

Bernadean DeWald was called home on February 13, 2017.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction. Visitation will be Friday, February 17, 2017 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Lahey Funeral Home.

Bernadean Mae Appleby was born on April 28, 1936 to her parents Freddie L. and Luella (Boots) Appleby. She married Robert DeWald on May 6, 1953.

She worked as a laborer for Clinton Engines, and retired from Leer/Sheller Globe after 25 years. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and to travel.

Those left to cherish her memories are her two daughters; Nila DeWald, Sherry (Jimmie) Maners all of Oxford Junction, seven grandchildren; Troy (Rejeanne) Behnke, Michael Behnke, Bernadean Block, Bobby (Chris) Davis, Rockey (Heather) Davis, Rivers (Katie) Maners, Rayen (Jenny) Davis, 16 great-grandchildren, three brothers; John (Rosemary) Appleby, Paul (Roxy) Appleby, Tom (JoAnn Appleby) all of Cedar Rapids, and sister Mary (Duane) Kaplan of Iowa City.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie and Luella Appleby, Husband Robert DeWald, sisters; Vivian, Bonnie, Lois, Merajo, and brothers; Larry, Allen, Tim, Freddie, and Ray.

In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been created in her honor.
