David D. Vacek

David D. Vacek, 63, of Oxford Junction passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction. A visitation will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Lahey Funeral Home in Oxford Junction. Burial will be at Mayflower Cemetery in Oxford Junction.

David Dean Vacek was born on October 29, 1953 in Maquoketa to Albert and Blanche (Balichek) Vacek Jr.. He graduated from Oxford Junction High School in 1972. On November 18, 1978 he married the love of his life Joy Gay in Bettendorf, Iowa.

David farmed all of his life and was a truck driver from coast to coast. He attended the United Methodist Church in Oxford Junction and loved his faith in God and his family. He enjoyed fishing, camping and coyote hunting.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Joy of Oxford Junction, two daughters; Tiffany (Mike) Vorbeck of Andrew, Molly Vacek of Oxford Junction, a grandson Kaiser, step-granddaughter Hope, two sisters; Marlene (Steve) Hansel of Dubuque, Dolleen (Don) Brown of Jacksonville, Florida and a brother Eugene (Linda) Vacek of Uvalde, Texas and many nieces and nephews.  

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be directed to his family in his honor.
