Welcome to the memorial page for

Helene Seeberger

March 22, 1919 ~ May 19, 2017 (age 98) 98 Years Old

Helene Marie Seeberger passed away peacefully of natural causes at age 98 on 19 May 2017 at the Joan and Diana Hospice Home in Kingman, AZ.  She was born on 22 March 1919 in Maquoketa, IA to Otto A. and Ruby (Wing) Seeberger.  Helene was the third oldest of eight children raised on the family farm north of Maquoketa and went to grade school nearby in a one-room schoolhouse in Hurstville, IA.  She graduated from Maquoketa High School with top honors in 1937.  She then married Frederick J. Schlack on 14 July 1938 in Maquoketa.

They moved to Davenport, IA and remained there for 25 years, where they raised two children and she helped establish Frederick's Photography Studio.  After divorcing in 1965, Helene lived in Chicago and San Francisco for several years before settling in Beverly Hills, CA in 1971.  She was an executive secretary for many years, notably for the Greg Juarez Art Gallery in Hollywood, and she was a hostess for the Film Advisory Board and the Juarez Gallery Foundation for 15 years.

Helene traveled extensively throughout America and Europe and especially loved the alpine vistas of Switzerland.  Although she met many famous celebrities over the years in Beverly Hills and Hollywood, Helene's greatest enjoyment came from her many friendships made with the local shopkeepers, restaurant workers, her neighbors, and visiting tourists.  She became a dear friend and counsel to a great many people and will be remembered especially for the love and caring she brought to all.  She was truly an angel among us.

She is survived by a son, F. Randall Schlack of Boulder City, NV; a daughter, Mary C. Tirado of Las Vegas, NV; two grandchildren, April Knight of Clearwater, FL and Timothy Knight of Boulder City, NV; a great-grandson, Brandon Knight of Texas; a brother, Edward Seeberger of Maquoketa, IA; and a sister, Pat (Mrs. Ron) Schlesch of Three Rivers, MI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers James and Otto Seeberger, and her sisters Catherine Schroeder, Dorothy Long, and Myrle Schildgen.

Visitation will be held from 9:00- 11:30 a.m. and services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wed 31 May at the Lahey Funeral Home in Maquoketa.  Graveside services will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Key West, IA, where she will be buried next to her beloved parents.
