Kimberly Kay Decker

Kimberly Decker, 60, of Maquoketa passed away on November 15, 2017 at Jackson County Regional Hospital.  

 A funeral service will be held at East Iron Hill Church on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 21 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Lahey and Dawson Funeral Service in Maquoketa. Burial will be at the East Iron Hill Cemetery.

Kimberly Kay was born on April 22, 1957 to Benjamin and Rosalie (Edwards) Gilmore. She married Lee Decker in November 27, 2010. Kim was an in-home caregiver in Jackson and Clinton county and also worked at Rockwell Collins in Bellevue.

Kimberly was a member of United Methodist Church in Maquoketa. She enjoyed gardening, growing her own veggies, visiting her children, reading Stephen King books, fishing and hanging out at the cabin with her husband. She had a great love for yard sales and loved antique trinkets and décor. She loved to travel and had a great love for animals, especially her cats, Leo and Linus and her dog Lilly. She was known as the sweetest person.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Lee Decker of Maquoketa, three children; Johnny Keil of Eldridge, Iowa, Kathryn Shanahan of Denver, Colorado, Wesley (Randel) Shanahan of Littleton, Colorado, grandchild Daltyn Armstrong and great-grandchild Mia Armstrong, step-father John Melroy of Maquoketa, two step-children; Melissa (Luke) Brown of Lansing, Michigan, Jason (Cathie) Decker of Colorado Springs, Colorado, five step-grandchildren and two brothers; Lonny (Nancy) Gilmore of Maquoketa, Charles (Phyllis) Gilmore of Maquoketa.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be directed in her honor to her family.
