Verlyn Ruggeberg

Verlyn, “Vicky”, I. Ruggeberg, age 89, was born in Marshall County, Iowa, on May 20, 1928 and passed away on August 2nd, 2017 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Illinois.

Vicky is survived by her two sons, Rand (Pam) of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Dan (Frieda) of Shorewood, Illinois. Preceding her in death was her husband Wayne whom she married on November 24th, 1950; and brother Alvah Collins.

She received a B.A. degree in Social Science from Iowa State Teachers College in 1949.  She was a member of PI TAU PHI social sorority in which she served as Treasurer and President. 

Vicky had lived in seven states (Iowa, Minnesota, Kentucky, Ohio, Florida, Texas and Illinois) but was happiest while doing volunteer work in Corpus Christi during construction and opening of the Texas State Aquarium.

Cremation rites have been accorded.  A memorial service will be held at Lahey Funeral Home on August 10th at 1:30 in Maquoketa, Iowa.  Inurnment to be held privately.
