Connie Zamastil

Connie Sue Ebersole Zamastil passed to life eternal in her Heavenly home on Saturday, February 14, 2026. Born on February 26, 1949. To Melvin and Monita (Hayes) Ebersole, Connie welcomed a baby sister, Carolyn, a year and a half later. These sisters loved growing up on the family farm south of Maquoketa and spending countless hours together. Connie was a graduate of Delwood High School and the University of Dubuque, with a degree in elementary education. Connie’s passion was teaching children in pre-school through 3rd grade.

Connie was joined in marriage to Joel Zamastil on July 31, 1982, at the Delmar United Methodist Church. Their dear son, Jason, was born in 1985. Special joys in Connie’s life were her two grandsons, Jackson and Nolan.

In her youth, she enjoyed being an active member of 4-H and MYF (Methodist Youth Fellowship). She was a Sunday School teacher for many years and helped with Vacation Bible School at Delmar United Methodist Church, where her deep faith in the lord developed.

Connie lived on the farm near Wyoming, Iowa, and was a busy substitute teacher in the Midland School District, where she is remembered by many students as “Mrs. Z!”

She also helped at the Wyoming Fair each summer. Connie was a devoted and active member of Wyoming Methodist Church. She enjoyed her time in Ever Ready Club and playing cards.

Connie’s skills as an excellent cook and baker were appreciated by family and friends. She often took baked items to activities in Wyoming. She helped care for a large garden and froze or canned many containers of vegetables each year.

Joel and Connie enjoyed traveling and went on several cruises with the Iowa State University Alumni Association. They also attended ISU basketball games.

Connie is survived by her husband Joel, a son, Jason, daughter-in-law Allison, grandsons Jackson and Nolan, sister Carolyn Munson, brother-in-law, Larry Munson, several cousins and many friends who cherished her kind and generous heart and joyful spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Monita Ebersole and her father and mother-in-law Frank and Wilma Zamastil.

Funeral services celebrating Connie’s life will be held Friday, February 20, 2026, at the Wyoming Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held Thursday February 19, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Dawson Funeral Home, Wyoming, Iowa.
