Doris Rita "Taco" Denniston

Doris Rita "Taco" Denniston, of Wyoming, Iowa, passed away on June 8, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Doris was born on March 3, 1950, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Vincent and Alverda (Bonifas) Clasen. She graduated from Marquette High School and was united in marriage to Mark Denniston on July 6, 1985, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction.

Doris worked for many years at Rockwell Collins until her retirement. Following retirement, she found her greatest joy in spending time with her grandchildren, serving as their devoted nanny and biggest supporter.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction, the Oxford Junction Ladies Auxiliary,  Lutheran Quilters, Homemakers and Little Bear Country Club. Doris enjoyed fishing, camping, quilting, baking, traveling, and creating lasting memories with family and friends. Above all, she cherished every opportunity to visit and spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Mark Denniston of Wyoming; her children, Amy (Randy) Stoehr of Aplington, Travis (Kourtney) Denniston of Williamsburg, VA , and Derek (Shelby) Denniston of Onslow; six grandchildren; Isaac, Callan, Stella, Kyson, Teagyn, Naxton, sisters, Alice (Dave) Schwager, Dot (Gary) Snyder, Mary (Marv) Budde, and Sandy (Jerry) Christensen; brothers, Chris (Connie) Clasen and Willy (Connie) Clasen; sister-in-law Lois Clasen; brother-in-law Ray Stephen; father-in-law Larry Denniston and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Paul Clasen; a sister Rose Ann Stephen, her mother-in-law, Barb Denniston; and other beloved family members.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, at the Oxford Junction Legionnaire. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oxford Junction, with Fr. Andrew and Deacon Mark officiating. Burial will be in the Wyoming Cemetery. Dawson Funeral Services of Oxford Junction is caring for Doris and her family.
